The GROWSAFE® programme aims to improve users' and suppliers' understanding of:

• The role of agrichemicals in the management of pests and diseases
• Properties and mode of action of commonly used agrichemicals
• Principles of safe, responsible and effective agrichemical application with minimal adverse impact on human, environmental and animal health.
• Potential impact of agrichemicals
• Obligations and responsibilities of agrichemical users and suppliers

The GROWSAFE® programme requires users and suppliers to be assessed and demonstrate that they have achieved specific unit standards registered on the NZQA Framework.

As a minimum, the GROWSAFE® Introductory course has all the HSNO information and assessment necessary to deliver Approved Handler certification and is endorsed by ERMA. Approved Handler certificates are issued by an ERMA-approved Test Certifier based on the assessment.
