Winegrowers are committed to making the latest information available to the industry and assisting with the uptake of new technology and best practices by industry. A key part of this process is supporting various seminars, workshops and events nationally and regionally. Such events provide an important platform reporting on outcomes from the research programme. An important role in technology transfer is also played by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand who run a regular workshop programme.

The Grape Days seminars are an annual one day technical event specifically designed to report on and transfer the knowledge from the Winegrowers research programme. Held in both North and South Islands, Grape Days combine high level technical summaries of research with a practical applied focus. This event is strongly themed and gives the opportunity for industry to be informed in depth on topics of high importance and interest.

The Rabobank Romeo Bragato Conference is the annual three day conference of the New Zealand grape and wine sector. Named after Romeo Bragato who is considered by many to be the grandfather of New Zealand viticulture, the conference brings together all participants in the industry. The conference covers the full range of industry activity including grape growing and wine making, national and international wine sector trends, wine marketing and market development, business management and strategic planning.
The Conference also hosts various important industry competitions.
The Bragato Wine Awards is the only wine competition that directly acknowledges and rewards the grower of the grapes from which wines are made. Another unique attribute of the wines in this competition it that they are primarily from single vineyards. Trophy winners are announced at the gala Bragato Dinner.
The Markhams Young Viticulturist of the Year is a hotly contested competition. Regional finalists compete in the national finals, and their speeches are a highly anticipated part of the Bragato Dinner.
The national pruning competition, The Silver Secateurs, brings together the country’s top pruners to compete for recognition as being top of their trade.
In November 2011 New Zealand Winegrowers held Grapevine Trunk Disease Workshops in Hawkes Bay and Marlborough. These Workshops showcased the latest international research on effective management of eutypa dieback and canker diseases. The presenters were Mark Sosnowski South Australian R&D Institute, Doug Gubler University of California Davis and Marlene Jaspers Lincoln University.
